mario is super

The finished product of the Super Mario Brothers vinyl wall decals I made for my 7-year-old nephew. I traced out all of the individual pieces in illustrator, used a cutting machine to cut the shapes in the correct colour and then reassembled each character like a layered (sticky, ridiculous, air bubbled, infuriating) puzzle. Why is Luigi on a motorcycle and Yoshi enjoying a casual ride on Bullet Bill you ask? Well, because my art director was 7, that's why. Maybe this Mario wall will serve as a not so subtle hint for the Nintendo Wii that is on the top of his Christmas List : )

spread the love

While searching for a local place to have some chair cushions reupholstered this afternoon, I accidentally came across the Young House Love site. Just another happy accident thanks to google! The blog documents a young couple in Virginia who are redecorating their first home on a budget. Check it out for tons of inexpensive ideas and great design inspiration!

vintage (inspired?)

some interesting vintage inspired posters that i came across while researching a project.
i think the freckled ginger boy poster may actually be vintage and the swirly hot dog poster is a contemporary design with vintage flare - regardless, both are great to look at!
