decor daydreams

So, in a few short weeks I will be finally moving into an apartment in my favourite funky Vancouver neighbourhood. While I should be focusing on important aspects of moving - tenant's insurance, logistics of moving furniture on the ferry and packing - I find my myself in an eternal daydream of everything to do with decorating the new space. Although I will be renting so I can't do anything too ambitious (such as ripping up the navy carpet in favour of hardwood...), I do have some creative decorating ideas up my sleeve! Check out the inspirational images above that I have saved during one of my many long winded perusals of apartment therapy's Small, Cool Contest.

mario is super
The finished product of the Super Mario Brothers vinyl wall decals I made for my 7-year-old nephew. I traced out all of the individual pieces in illustrator, used a cutting machine to cut the shapes in the correct colour and then reassembled each character like a layered (sticky, ridiculous, air bubbled, infuriating) puzzle. Why is Luigi on a motorcycle and Yoshi enjoying a casual ride on Bullet Bill you ask? Well, because my art director was 7, that's why. Maybe this Mario wall will serve as a not so subtle hint for the Nintendo Wii that is on the top of his Christmas List : )Wednesday, August 25, 2010

fishs eddy
Fun finds from the Fishs Eddy store in NYC. My friend Rachel stumbled upon this store when she was in New York and loved the affordable whimsical glassware, linens and other home accessories. I love them too!

pom pom vines
Handmade tissue paper pom pom flowers and paper leaves from Once Wed. This reminds me of the time I made a giant pink pom pom, attached it to my head and called myself a flower on halloween : )

kiddie style

The other day I had a nice stroll down South Granville and visited some of the shops. After dreaming of fancy kitchen goodies in Williams Sonoma, I stopped in at Pottery Barn Kids. I fell in love with so many of the bedroom accessories - is it bad if I wanted some of these for myself? : )
